Weeknotes #5

Weeknotes for the week of February 10, 2025.

I'm suffering but that's okay.

Life

Cleaning continues. Got a lot done on Friday and Saturday. Finally got rid of one of those big plastic tubs that's been taking up way too much space in my room. Got most of the items I had stashed away in the trunk of my car taken car of, either donated or put inside somewhere. I was using the trunk of my car for storage because my room is so small but they ended up staying there for well over a year because I didn't have a chance to do cleaning until now.

I think even if I don't get the whole job done before my dad gets home, I'm at least in a better place than I was.

School

School gave me another chance to go somewhere fun! I went to the planetarium! Now I have to figure out how to write four pages about it! I'm kinda stuck on this and the assignment is due pretty soon. Maybe I should've chosen a more traditional museum... No time to change my mind now.

Other than occasionally getting to go somewhere fun, school is stressful for me, like always. This is nothing new. I can do it...

Website

Didn't have much time to work on it this week, unfortunately. Made some minor changes to the source repo, but none of it has been pushed to here yet since it was so minor I didn't want to bother.

Something I want to do is to add a little "Updates" widget for either the sidebar or homepage, that will include the last few updates, then a link to an updates page with all the past updates.

Reading/Watching/Gaming

Lily and I had our weekly anime watch session, continuing with the Apothecary Diaries and Lycoris Recoil. Great episodes from both shows tbh!

I finished Umineko! Finally! I won't get into too much detail here because spoilers, but I will say I found episode 8 a little disappointing. A lot was wrapped up in the previous episodes, leaving episode 8 with a lot of stuff I don't necessarily care about or even agree with. Erika was literally right. Trick ending sweep. But still! A great experience that makes you think, makes you want to share your thoughts with others, and makes you want to hear others thoughts. I wish I did share my experience as I went with a friend, not sure why I didn't, its not like I didn't have friends who already finished the games who would've been happy to let me live play at them. If you're interested in the game at all, I'd recommend seeing if you have any friends who completed the game you can talk to as you read through it! I'm sure they'd be happy to listen!

Since I got Umineko out of the backlog, I decided to pick up another game I stalled on back up again, Linda Cube Again. God this game fucking rules. Something about finding a piece of media that perfectly aligns with your tastes. It might even be the most Acycore game of all time. A freaky 90s jrpg about collecting the weirdest fucking animals you've ever seen? I love it. Thank you to the translation patch team for introducing me to this absolute gem of a game.

Speaking of weird fucking animals I started playing the Final Outpost. I've been wanting to play another low-maintenance "clicker" pet game again and I don't really mesh well with DragCave because death means you basically have to rely on fan click sites and I'm not really a dragon person anyways. I like the aesthetics of the Final Outpost a lot more and you can collect clicks more organically without worrying about your creatures dying. So here's my current guys you can click if you want!

AAA posting one minute late. Typical. (It's fine.)

School may be getting stressful but you got this Acy! I know you can do it! :D

Fun to see your thoughts on episode 8!

I think episode 8 was disappointing for similar reasons to me, but I do think the point of the magic/trick ending is an interesting point of debate. I guess because I never interpreted as which is the logically "correct" answer but more what is a more constructive feeling for Ange to carry into the future? That's at least what I took away from it.

Oh yeah, definitely. I wasn't being too detailed here and even a bit facetious because of spoilers, but yeah definitely agree that ryukishi is saying that a single objective truth isn't everything. I'm fine with Ange giving up the need for a single truth, but I don't necessarily agree that she needs to rehabilitate her family legacy in her mind. I think Erika's fight with Rosa captures my feelings really well. Sure, Rosa "loves" Maria, I can accept that. But does feeling "love" even matter in the face of both the personal and structural abuse inflicted on Maria?
Low-key I think we need family abolitionist ryukishi.
