Weeknotes #1
Weeknotes for the week of January 13, 2025.
Posted
I want to get into the habit of using this site as a blog, but I don't know what to write about yet. I got inspired by my friend Eudae's diary and weeknotes, which seemed like something I can try so I write something rather than nothing because I don't have the time/motivation to write any long-form content.
Life
- Getting health stuff in order. Had to get and EKG for my psychiatrist to continue with my ADHD medicine prescription. So I managed to find a new primary care doctor and went in for an initial visit plus the EKG, plus some blood work.
School
- School started this week on Wednesday.
- Got some classes directly related to my major this semester to that's fun.
- I have a GPA goal I want to hit by the end of this semester. I fucked up and since I'm a transfer student I don't really have a "grade buffer" from my first years of college so its been rough -_-
Website
- Over winter break I had a goal of getting this website, specifically the blog portion, into a state I felt good about using.
- Mostly this meant making sure the RSS feed works.
- Kinda hard to test it in my development environment so I just had to ship it and actually write some posts and see what happens.
- I usually prefer feeds that have the whole content of the blog post included in them, but I'm having trouble getting Wagtail Streamfields to render correctly, so for now just the "intro" field is included.
- Also changed the layout a bit from a two-column to a one-column layout since the second column ended up a bit superfluous.
- Honestly "you need to actually use your site in order to figure out what you need to change/improve/add" should show as a popup warning every time I open up vscode.
Reading/Watching/Gaming
- Finished my first playthrough of Disco Elysium. Good game. definitely have to do more runs at some point.
- Slowly but surely making my way through Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance. Taking my time and fusing a lot of demons.
- Dusted off this fucking thing (aka, the Anberbic RG280M, a "retro handheld") and been messing around with it. I didn't use it that much when I first bough it, and I'm not sure what suddenly made me boot it up again. But its a neat little toy.
- I think I just had this romset loaded onto it.
- Played a bit of E.V.O.: Search for Eden for the SNES since I'm a big fan of the original PC-98 game, 46 Okunen Monogatari. Stopped once I got to the first boss since its just not my style of game. I strongly prefer the turn-based gameplay of the original, as well as the more realistic art style.
- Then Pokemon Emerald. I actually never played a gen 3 game even though I think it's probably the nostalgia gen for most people my age. Instead I had a hand-me-down Silver cartridge and by the time I got a DS I guess GBA games weren't being sold as much anymore.
- GBA games aren't the best experience on this on this device because of the weird screen size. You have to choose between pixel perfection or being large enough to see. Usually I pick pixel perfection, but this thing is already small enough, so I gave in and turned integer-scaling off. Thankfully there's some filters included that help restore the look a bit.

- Watching the new season of the Apothecary Diaries and Revue Starlight with my friend Lily :)
And that's all! We'll see if I can keep up the habit, and write some other stuff too. I got some ideas of stuff to write that hopefully I can get to sooner rather than later.
